Albüm tamam iyi , güzel ve hatta süper fakat aynı ismi taşıyan ''Lateralus'' şarkısına fazlasıyla değinmek gerek.Belki de albümün en iyi parçası.Kilometrelerce derin ve bir o kadar da etkin bir şarkı bu.Öyle ki Mp3 Player'ı fetheder ve kendisini repeate attırıverir.Ve hatta daha da ileri giderek bendenize hakkında bir film senaryosu bile yazdırır.Düşünsel güç ile alakalı ama onun yanında daha bir sürü unsuru içine alan eşsiz bir deneyim.Sözü bitirirken bir kuble yazasım gelir ve o an yazmak gerekir :

ilk ciktiginda yerleri gokleri yerinden oynatmayan, sansasyon yaratmayan, o donemin tabiriyle "alternatifiz biz aaeeebi" diyen, korn ve limp bizkit hayrani kitleler tarafindan bayik bulunup aforoz edilen tool albumu.
ilk kez bir kadikoy-sirkeci vapurunda dinlemi$imdir kendisini. ya$adigim $ok tarifsizdi. o ılık ak$am ustu saatinden beri neredeyse her gun dinliyorum, askeri vazife sureci haricinde diyelim. 5 sene oldu, daha bayilamadim efendim. icerigi, felsefi boyutu, mukemmel kapak ve booklet gorselligi, $arki sozlerindeki gizli ve imakar mesajlar, muzikalitedeki yukseli$, enstrumantal ilerleme, virtuozitedeki bariz netle$me, tertemiz bir kayit ve maynard james keenan'in materyal dunyasina yonelttigi baki$ acisinin bir tokat gibi surata carpmasi... lateralus budur. icerisinde bo$ $arki (filler) olmamasi bir yana, son 10 yilin progressive muzik tarihinde kendisine yeti$ebilecek bir albumun daha oldugunu sanmiyorum.
sadece minnet duyulabilir; boyle bir adamin, boyle bir ekibin; bu kalibrede bir albumu yapmi$ olmasi baglaminda...

bir tool albumu. ama sadece tool albumu olmakla kalmayıp , en iyi tool albumu de denebilir ,eğer ki tool albumlerini bi yere koyabilecek kadar kendinizi fazla ayrımsever hissediyorsanız. zira aenima ve 10000 days ve salival(her ne kadar canlı performans olsa da başlı başına bir albumdur ) da apayrı yerlere götürür adamı.
ama biz şuan lateralus başlıgı altındayız ve o yüzden bırakalım da lateralus albumunden bahsedelim.
the grudge gibi bir şarkıyla başlayan bir albumdur bu album . ve şarkının ismi kadar parçanın kendisi de inanılmaz agresiftir ve grudge ın etkileri en son şarkıya kadar gider.
kimi zaman yer yer dinginlik hissetsenizde şarkılarda ki bu ihtiyacınız olan dinginliktir, dalgalı bi denizde boğuşurken biranda çarşaf gibi denizin tadını çıkarmayı özlediğiniz an , sırtınızı denizin üstüne uzatmaktır. yer yer boşa kulaç attıgınızı düşünürsünüz
ve bu inişli çıkışlı tam bi kaotik dalga tribinde hissedilen en net duygu nedir bilirmisiniz?
lanet olası album boyunca sanki çarşafın içinden çıkmaya çalışan hayalet numarası yapan çocugun hissettiği kapalı ortam fobisidir. eğer elinde bıçak olsa çarşafı yırtmayı değil belki kendi boğazını kesmeyi düşünen paranoyak çocuk hissiyatı.
aman düşman başına, çok fazla düşünen bireyseniz belki de çok dinlemeyin albumu derim.

2001 yılı ile 2006 yılı arasında bizi bizden almakla yükümlü olmuş olan tool albümü. fazla yoruma gerek duymaz. her şarkının 2. dakikası ve 57. saniyesindeki kelimeleri arka arkaya mantıklı bir cümle oluşturacak şekilde dizdiğimizde şarkı sayıları bir fibonacci serisi oluşturur.

21. yüzyılın en iyi albümü demek istiyorum. evet dedim bile.
aenima fırtınası yerini 2000li yıllara bıraktığında ve 2001 yılında tool bu albümü piyasaya sunduğunda, yer yerinden oynadı.
albümdeki her parçanın yeri ve anlamı ayrı, aenima'ya göre daha anlaşılır ve daha konseptik yapıya sahipti.
parabol & parabola'ya çekilen klibe ise sanırım şöyle bir isim verebiliriz;
"en iyi video klip çalışması"
